How to Get More 5-Star Google Reviews for Your Med Spa

Get more 5-star Google reviews. - Lobel Digital Solutions blog

When a patient is choosing between two med spas, reviews often make the decision for her. She reads what other patients say about the results, the staff and the experience, and she picks the place that feels safest. Reviews also help you rank higher on Google Maps, so more patients find you in the first place.

Most med spas have plenty of happy patients. The problem is that very few of them leave a review on their own. Here’s how to build a simple system that brings in steady, detailed 5-star reviews every month.

1. Ask at the right moment

Timing matters more than anything. The best moment to ask is when the patient is happiest: right after a great appointment, or when she sees her results. For injectables, that might be a follow-up message about two weeks later, once results have settled. For facials or laser treatments, it can be the same day.

2. Make it automatic

Your front desk is busy, and asking for reviews is easy to forget. Set up an automatic text that goes out after each appointment with a short thank-you and a direct link to your Google review page. A CRM like GoHighLevel can send these for you, so every patient gets asked, every time.

3. Make it effortless

  • Use a direct link. Send patients straight to the review box, not to your Google profile where they have to hunt for the button.
  • Keep the message short. Two or three friendly sentences is plenty.
  • Make it mobile-friendly. Almost everyone will leave the review from their phone.

4. Encourage detail

Reviews that mention specific treatments and staff members are more convincing to new patients, and they help Google connect your practice to those services. You can gently encourage this by saying something like, “If you have a minute, we’d love to hear how your lip filler appointment with Jess went.” Never write reviews for patients or offer them discounts or gifts in exchange for a review, since Google’s policies don’t allow it.

5. Reply to every review

Thank patients for positive reviews by name and mention the treatment when appropriate. For negative reviews, respond calmly and professionally, and invite the person to contact you directly to make it right. Be careful not to confirm any medical details publicly, since patient privacy rules still apply online. A thoughtful reply to a bad review can build as much trust as a good review.

6. Show your reviews off

  • Add a reviews section to your website, near your booking buttons.
  • Share standout reviews on Instagram and Facebook (with permission when needed).
  • Mention your rating in ads and emails, like “Rated 4.9 stars by 200+ patients.”

7. Use feedback to catch problems early

Some practices send a short private survey first, then follow up with a review request. This helps you spot unhappy patients and fix the issue before it turns into a public complaint. Just make sure every patient still gets the chance to leave a public review if they want to. Filtering out unhappy patients from review requests goes against Google’s guidelines.
